A quick video from Matt Cutts, of Google's search quality team, with some tips on narrowing down your searches.
| "Search Phrase" | Add quotation marks around the search phrase | Search for a phrase with no other words between the words that you've typed |
| +auto | Add a + sign in front of the keyword | Don't use synonims. For example don't replace the word auto with the word car |
| site:example.com | Add site: before an address | Search only in that site |
| -word | Add a - sign in front of a negative keyword | Only show results that don't contain this keyword |
